About this calculator
NZ Paid Parental Leave (PPL) is 26 weeks at the lesser of your average weekly earnings and the statutory cap (NZ$754.87/week for 2024/25, indexed annually).
- Eligibility: ~6 months of employment with the same employer (or 26 weeks of self-employment) before the baby's arrival.
- Both parents can't take PPL simultaneously, but transfer between parents is allowed.
- Up to 52 weeks of unpaid leave is also available — totalling up to 78 weeks of job-protected absence.
